Craft Studio Office Design

Craft Studio Office

Today I want to take you behind-the-scenes on my thought process behind an office space inside the Country Peony Studio. I have been creating in the studio for about a year and a half, and I am taking my time adding pieces that mean a lot to me as well as how I want to use the space. I have a large table in the center of the studio where I do most of my creating/shooting videos. I learned quickly that I like to have a clean table when I create to clear my head, and so having my computer and papers on the same table is hard for me. So, I decided to create a cute office in the corner of the studio. Since the space is so open, I knew I wanted the space to be just as pretty as it is functional! And, I love that I can sit at my desk and see the studio as I daydream and plan for future projects!

The space is slowly starting to come together as furniture and decor pieces are coming in. However, I am not quite ready for the reveal. So, today I thought it would be fun to show you my ideas behind the design.

Inspiration Behind the Design

Whenever I start any project (whether that is a new craft project, an event design, or space design), I always start with the color palette. Normally, there is an inspiration piece that I bring in to kick off the project.

Sometimes, it can be a piece of fabric, something found in nature, a picture, or another crafting project. My inspiration piece for this office design was this beautiful fabric: Majolica - Floral (Dark Cream) by Jo Rose for Lewis & Irene. I love the style and the colors of the flowers! I plan to use this fabric as the backing for a DIY cork board to act as an inspiration board behind my desk. I also plan to pull the colors and style from the flowers and place it throughout the design.

Details of the Craft Studio Office Design

Oversized calendar

I knew I wanted an oversized calendar that I could reference as I plan big projects throughout the year, but I wanted something that was beautiful and almost acted as art next to the inspiration board. I pulled the colors from the fabric, and found this charming oversized calendar!

ikea Ribba Frames

I purchased 12 of these Ribba white frames from Ikea to place each calendar month in. I chose these because they had great reviews, and they were the most inexpensive. They will then act as dry erase boards, and I can reuse the calendars each year.

Lindsay Letters Milk Glass Floral

Lindsay Letters is one of my favorite artists, and I have had this Milk Glass Floral print by her for years! I love it! I love the whimsy of the flowers, and I love the colors. I think it will fit so well in the office area!

spindle leg wood desk

It took me a while to find a desk that I liked. I wanted a desk that was pretty, but wasn’t too big. I also wanted a desk that looked great on all sides as the desk will be facing the studio, and not in the corner. I found this charming spindle desk from Kirkland’s, and I LOVE it! The color, size, and style is perfect!

Etsy scallop jute rug

For the rug, I wanted something that was cute but not overpowering. I landed on this really charming 5’ scalloped round jute rug in pink from Etsy. I love the pop of pink, the unexpected scalloped edge, and the fact that it is round! Have you ever purchased a rug from Etsy? Etsy is such a great resource for finding cute and vintage rugs at a great price!

pink filing cabinet

Just like the desk, the filing cabinet needed to be cute from all sides. I found this sturdy and sweet filing cabinet from Bed, Bath, and Beyond! I love how sturdy and pretty it is! I am hopeful it will keep me organized :).

cricut storage

This adorable cart was an unexpected find! I found it through an Instagram ad, and I couldn’t resist the scallop detail and the beautiful Jade Green color. I use my Cricut Explore 3 so often, and so I wanted to have it near my desk when I create and work on my computer. I plan to put the Cricut on the top, and add my vinyl in bins at the bottom! I have not received it yet, but I am so excited to add it to the space!

Anthropologie finds

Anthropologie is one of my favorite places to look for inspiration for my crafts and spaces. I love the whimsy and colors used in all of their designs. The only thing I am not crazy about is the price tag. Most of Anthropologie’s pieces are expensive, and so I normally wait for a sale to purchase their items. Two pieces that I have my eye on for my office space is this beautiful chair and this whimsical lamp. I love the color and style of this chair. And, this lamp is unlike any other lamp I have seen!

I cannot wait to show you the completed look of my office area in the craft studio! Thank you so much for following along today!

I would love to know what you think!
