Today I am excited to share my plans for our master bedroom. Other than my hot pink and white striped walls in my college apartment (I still love pink, but prefer lighter tones these days) my bedroom designs have always taken a backseat to the higher traffic areas in my homes. So, after over two years in our charming, country farmhouse I am finally tackling our master bedroom. Maybe this next statement makes me feel better for my procrastination, but sometimes it is important to live in a space to see how you want to use it before you invest in the time and energy to make it yours.

Our master bedroom was uninspiring, and honestly just a pass through to our beautiful, master bathroom. The bones of the room are gorgeous with the shiplap walls painted the same Benjamin Moore Gray Owl as the rest of the house. The room is also very tall featuring beautiful natural light and a tin ceiling. I want our master bedroom to spark happiness and creativity, and also to be a place where I can relax and diffuse oils while I read my books at night. I was inspired to start this design renovation after seeing how happy my Corner Office Space made me feel.

Much like when I start planning events, it is very helpful for me to pinpoint an inspiration piece for a room. Then pull 3-4 colors from it and create a color palette. This keeps me focused in the design and planning process, which helps with the final execution. Keeping in mind that our homes are constantly evolving as we change our styles and needs. But, I believe we also just need to start to create homes we love. It is all trial and error.

Now that I have started the master bedroom makeover I am excited to tackle some DIYs. I plan to makeover a large chest of drawers using navy chalk paint. I am also so excited to finally create some silhouettes of my babies for our room. I will share these DIYs in the next couple of weeks. Then I will finally reveal the master bedroom makeover.

The small changes I have made so far make me so happy. And, I am so thankful for my husband who lets me run with these design ideas! Every morning I wake up, happily make my bed and pull the curtains open. It is now a space where I can create, or for me to relax and read. Tell me, what do you wish out of your bedroom?
